A man witnesses a meteorite fall from the sky on his land and decides to keep it, with devastating consequences. A battered husband and college professor procures a crate housing an unknown entity with deadly intentions. A cuckolded husband discovers that the dead may not necessarily stay that way. A woman returning home to celebrate her father’s birthday encounters an unexpected guest. A cruel germaphobe and misanthrope learns the hard way that his contained environment is not entirely so — all with the ongoing story of a child so unwilling to part with his beloved horror comic book, he’s willing to go to any lengths to thwart his hateful, controlling father.

The horror/comedy anthology Creepshow was released in 1982, and unleashed upon the world five stories of murder, depravity, and revenge from the two hottest names in horror at the time: writer Stephen King and director George Romero.

King — already well-known for penning such classics as Carrie, Pet Sematary, The Shining, Cujo, Salem’s Lot, and The Stand — had been putting readers’ worst nightmares into words for nearly a decade, and Romero, who arguably brought the zombie genre into the mainstream with his “Dead Series” — films like Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead — teamed up to pay homage to their shared love of the early 1950s EC horror comics.

The idea was to meld horror and comedy — which is why the film has that campy feel — but when you dissect the segments, there’s actually a moral to each story. According to George Romero, when speaking about the beloved Tales from the Crypt comic books:

“I always thought the bad guys got their comeuppance, good basically triumphed over evil.”

Whether you’re discovering Creepshow for the first time or re-living the experience — this will surely be a fun addition to your library. This release includes:
