Amazfit T-Rex Ultra arrives with reinforced casing, freediving certification

The Amazfit T-Rex series has solidified its position in the rugged smartwatch market and the latest entry to the series is now official with the T-Rex Ultra. As the name suggests this is Amazfit’s new flagship offering and it brings even more features for extreme sports lovers.

T-Rex Ultra retains the 1.39-inch AMOLED display with 454 x 454px resolution and a peak brightness of 1,000nits from the T-Rex 2. The casing is even more durable this time around, being freediving certified for up to 30m depths thanks to its EN13319 and ISO 6245 certifications. The casing made from polymer alloy while the bezel, buttons, back panel and bridge are made from stainless steel. It’s a chunky watch at 89 grams and it’s also 13.45mm thick.

T-Rex Ultra boasts a MIL-STD rating for 15 different tests including a mud-resistant construction that keeps debris and sediments away from the watch insides. The watch can also survive in extreme temperatures as low as -30°C and up to +70°C.

T-Rex Ultra also brings dual-band GPS with the ability to download offline maps with real-time movement updates. The watch also brings automatic workout detection for up to 25 activities. The onboard BioTracker PPG biometric sensor ensures accurate heart rate and blood oxygen tracking details.

The watch brings Bluetooth 5.0 LE and Wi-Fi connectivity and boots Zepp OS 2.0 out the box. You also get the option to download mini-apps from the Zepp App including a GoPro app to link you camera.

T-Rex Ultra comes with a 500mAh battery that charges via a proprietary magnetic cradle. Battery endurance is rated at 20 days with typical usage and 9 days of heavy usage. The watch also comes with special endurance modes, including Endurance GPS mode that can last you up to 3 days with positioning data turned on.

Amazfit T-Rex Ultra comes in Abyss Black and Sahara colors and is priced at $400. Specific market availability details will be shared soon.
