While Mahindra is creating a rage with the new Scorpio N, the previous-generation Scorpio, which has been re-branded as Scorpio Classic, still enjoys humongous popularity. Many are still preferring the older version for its road presence and practicality. However, for those who find the top-spec S11 variant of the Scorpio far from their reach, they prep their lower-spec versions with add-ons to make them look like higher variants. Here is one such S3 variant of the Scorpio, which has been customized with newer features and garnishes to give it the visual appeal of the top-end variant.
In a YouTube video uploaded by Vlogger Amaan, we can see an aftermarket shop presenting a base-spec Scorpio, which has been altered with additional features to give it the visual appeal of the higher S11 variant. The front profile of this Scorpio has been tweaked with a chrome-garnished grille and new headlamps with LED projectors and daytime running LEDs. The front bumper also looks tweaked with fancier looking skid plate, bumper garnish and fog lamps. In addition, the pillars of this Scorpio too have been blacked out, which are otherwise body-coloured in the base-spec version.

There are no changes to the side profile, and the owner of this Scorpio has chosen to stick to the steel wheel option and not upgrade to alloy wheels. It also gets roof rails, which are not present in the base-spec S3 variant. At the back, the Scorpio here gets chrome touches, rear wiper, washer and defogger, roof-mounted spoiler and bumper garnish with skid plate.
Updated cabin
On the inside, the changes are more apparent, with the base-spec Mahindra Scorpio looking much more premium and better equipped. It gets a new steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls mounted on its spokes. The dashboard trim is altered with artificial leather, while there is a contrast red stitching on the pillars, centre console and steering wheel.
The door panels also look reworked with newer controls for power windows repositioned on them. The centre console is also adorned with an aftermarket 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, though it continues to get manual dials for the AC system. The dashboard and door panels also feature blue-coloured ambient lighting across their width. There are no mechanical changes to this Mahindra Scorpio, and this SUV continues to get the same engine and gearbox combination as before.
2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic
The new Mahindra Scorpio Classic gets a new aluminium-made 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is there in the base-spec Z2 variant of the diesel-manual Scorpio-N. Available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which now gets drive-by-wire technology, this engine produces 132 bhp of maximum power and 300 Nm of maximum torque. Thanks to its aluminium construction, the engine is almost 55 kg lighter than the previous engine while being more fuel efficient than it by almost 14 per cent. Mahindra has also updated the suspension of the Scorpio Classic, due to which it claims much lesser body roll and improved high-speed handling and stability of the SUV.
