7 seat Citroen C3-based SUV: What it’ll look like

The French carmaker Citroen is getting ready to create a bigger name for itself in the country. Yesterday it announced the final name for its forthcoming EV and today it has been reported the automaker is also working on a seven-seater compact SUV. According to a report on AutoEsporte, this all-new compact SUV will be based on the brand’s CMP modular platform and will be rivaling the likes of the Renault Triber and more affordable trims of the highly popular Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens. Reportedly it will also come in a five-seater variant as well.

Over the past few months, this upcoming SUV has been spotted on multiple occasions across the country. Spottings have taken place in Pune, Manali, and a few other locations. As per the reports, Citroen has codenamed this SUV CC24. Previously it named its C3 hatchback CC21 when it was under development, and another sedan that is currently under testing has been codenamed the CC26 and it could be coming out in 2024. As of yet, no official names have been announced but it is widely believed that it could be called C3 Aircross.

In terms of the design of the CC24, from the spy images and the renderings we can note that the it will borrow similar signature design cues from its siblings the C3 and C5 Aircross. The SUV will have a high hood and a large air inlet at the front, giving the appearance that it is large. Furthermore, like other Citroen models, it will sport a split headlight system with the top housing the daytime running DRLs and the lower housing the primary headlamp. It will also have different front appearance, including a sharper bumper with integrated fog lights. The bumper will also include four sizeable pentagonal air intakes along with small silver skid plate and black lower cladding.

From the side profile, the renderings show that the SUV will have some sharp body lines. We can also note that the SUV will be have conventional flat type door handles. It will also get black cladding on the sides. It could also come with a set of newly designed alloy wheels. Meanwhile on the rear it will feature a similar looking rear end to the C3 hatchback with LED taillamps, black cladding and silver skid plate.

As previously stated, the C3 SUV will be built on Citroen’s CMP modular platform, which will be shared with the C3 hatchback. Citroen will increase the wheelbase for the SUV version, making it somewhat longer than the C3’s 2.54 metres. It will come quite close to 2.62 m. According to reports, the length should be around 4.40 metres, which is the same as the Jeep Compass. It is also believed that Citroen will borrow some parts of this SUV from the C3 hatchback in order to keep the price low.

As for the launch dates of this seven-seater SUV, it will supposedly hit the market in the first half of next year. The method of launch of this SUV will be similar to that used with C3, which was showcased in India long before it was available in other countries. The presentation of CC24 will be simultaneous across Asia and Brazil.
