The latest reports suggest that Google is preparing a new Chrome OS UI update for Chromebooks, and it will bring more rounded corners. The rounded corners will be applied to all UI elements throughout the system. This is a much-needed refresh for Chrome OS, as it has had the same core look for quite a while now.
According to a Twitter user, @cr_c2cv, Chrome OS has added a flag in the latest Canary updates. This new flag adds an option to turn on rounded corners throughout the system UI at a granular level. Meaning you will see rounded corners across the UI elements. The flag lets the user apply rounded corners at an 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, or 18-pixel radius.
When you turn on the flag and select the rounded corners’ radius, it gets applied to all UI elements, such as the pop-up windows as well as the full windows. It is a nice change from the current squared-off look. This might be the beginning of the new UI refresh that Google is working to bring to Chrome on Windows, Mac, and other platforms.
Moreover, rounded corners are the new UI trend that is being followed by even macOS and Microsoft. There isn’t a deadline for when Google intends to bring the rounded corner UI elements to all Chrome OS users.
