Maruti Suzuki unveiled the crossover version of the Baleno as the Fronx at the Auto Expo last year, officially launching it in April. It attracted attention from buyers for several reasons, including the engine. The manufacturer made several changes to give it a distinct identity. The car is even referred to as the baby Grand Vitara because of its front-end design. For those unfamiliar, Maruti Suzuki reintroduced the BoosterJet engine with the new Fronx in India, discontinuing it from the Baleno as part of the BS6 transition.

Maruti Suzuki offers two petrol engine options with the Fronx: a 1.0-liter BoosterJet and a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine. The 1.0-liter, K-Series turbo petrol engine generates 100 PS and 147 Nm of peak torque. It is currently the only offering from Maruti to come with a turbo petrol engine and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, with a 6-speed automatic transmission option also available. The 1.2-liter engine is the same as that which powers many other Maruti models, generating 89 PS and 113 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. Price for Maruti Fronx starts at Rs 7.46 lakh, ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 13.13 lakh, ex-showroom.
