‘Across the Spider-Verse’ BTS Peek Reveals Best Look Yet at the Cameo That Shook the Multiverse

Warning: Inconsequential spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to follow.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be the usual center of attention, but there’s simply no stopping a Spider-Verse film whenever it rears its head. Having already made more than double its production budget after its opening weekend, to say nothing of the overwhelming love it’s received from critics and audiences alike, the only way is up for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and we’re already trembling in anticipation for what Beyond the Spider-Verse has in store.

Indeed, you know your movie hit all of its beats right when its biggest cameo, one that would have snapped the internet over its knee had it been in an MCU project, was merely a footnote in the storm of praise for your movie as a whole. Nevertheless, we’re sure the cameo still stuck out in the mind of many a moviegoer, and an Across the Spider-Verse crew member has dedicated an Instagram post to it.

Trayce Gigi Field, a costume designer who help create the live-action Prowler outfit worn by Donald Glover‘s Aaron Davis in the film, put out a celebration post for Across the Spider-Verse, honoring the joys that came with building the first glimpse of the MCU’s Prowler, being involved with the film in the first place, and getting to work with Glover again.

Glover’s Aaron Davis, of course, first appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming, where he was seen purchasing weapons from the Vulture’s associates. His Spider-Verse cameo is the first we’ve seen or heard from him since then, and if a certain Miles Morales fan theory proves to be as concrete as it seems, we could be seeing Glover’s Prowler back in his home dimension before we know it.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now playing in theaters.
