Taiwan-based chip manufacturer TSMC is supplying its first 3nm process node, N3B, exclusively to Apple. The high cost of the 3nm wafers, priced at $20,000 per piece, and low yields of 55% made Apple the only company willing to pay the price. However, TSMC plans to increase production to 100,000 wafers per month by the end of 2024, which will allow Qualcomm and MediaTek to sign up for the second-generation 3nm node, N3E.
