Now, another official document related to the Mahindra XUV.e9 has come to our knowledge, which confirms that Mahindra has applied for a patent for the design of the electric SUV coupe.
The design patent reveals that the new Mahindra XUV.e9 will be a true SUV coupe like the concept version which was showcased in 2023. Even the test mule, which was spied recently in a fully camouflaged form while being under trial run, confirms the development. To be based on an all-new INGLO platform for born-electric vehicles, the Mahindra XUV.e9 will get a new-generation battery and motor setup.
Apart from the sloping roofline, which has become the prime identity of all the coupes in general, the design patent applied by Mahindra for the new upcoming XUV.e9 SUV reveals several other highlights. Starting from the front profile, the Mahindra XUV.e9 has a wide front fascia, which comprises a blacked-out grille, featuring C-clamp-shaped LED DRLs with connected light bars joining them.
The Mahindra XUV.e9 also gets prominent haunches and diamond-like contours over the front bonnet and front and rear wheel arches. While the rear profile of the Mahindra XUV.e9 is not visible in the design patent applied, we can confirm that it will get similar C-shaped LED tail lamps with a connected light bar between them like the front, which was also present in the concept model. Given the sloping roofline, the Mahindra XUV.e9 is expected to have a low drag coefficient.
The production-spec version of the Mahindra XUV.e9 will likely come equipped with high-tech features like all-LED illumination with sequential LED turn indicators, larger 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels and flush-type door handles. Given that the Mahindraq XUV700 already has these features, it is safe to say that the new XUV.e9 will also get all of these. On the inside, expect the new Mahindra XUV.e9 to come equipped with triple 12.3-inch screens for the instrument console and infotainment systems across the length of the dashboard.
