Android 14 widely rolling out to Galaxy A24, Fold 5 & Flip 5

Samsung‘s Galaxy A24 is now making the move to Android 14. The company recently started pushing the One UI 6.0 update to the mid-range phone. The update is already available relatively widely and should reach users globally over the next few days. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldables are also widely picking up the big update.

Galaxy A24 receives Samsung’s Android 14 update

Samsung launched the Galaxy A24 in April this year. The company shipped the phone with Android 13 onboard and promised to push four major Android OS updates to it. The first of those is now here in the form of One UI 6.0, which is based on Android 14. The update is widely available in Asia with the firmware build number A245FXXU3BWK3. Users in other parts of the world can expect to receive it soon.

As you can see in the official changelog, this update brings a lot. Samsung has revamped the Quick Settings layout and added an option to instantly access the full panel. The Quick Settings instant access feature lets you see the expanded panel by swiping once from the right side of the top of the screen. Swiping down from the left side shows notifications. If disabled, you will get a compact quick panel with notifications.

One UI 6.0 also revamps the notification panel and gives you more customization options for the lock screen and home screen. New widgets, multitasking improvements, and improved stock apps are part of the package too. Additionally, your Galaxy A24 is getting new camera features and editing tools, enhanced Bixby Text Call, redesigned system UI, improved animations, and a plethora of other changes.

This update for the Galaxy A24 also bundles Samsung’s November security patch, which contains more than 60 vulnerability patches. At least five of those are confirmed to be critical issues. If you are using this mid-range Samsung phone, watch out for the update in the coming days. You can also check for updates manually by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 are receiving the update in more markets

A few days back, Samsung released the One UI 6.0 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in the US. The initial rollout covered carrier-locked units. The company is now updating unlocked units too. Additionally, it is pushing the update to the foldable duo in international markets, including Europe. It should be available globally in the coming days.
