The Ayodhya Airport has been named as the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport and will have an area of 50 thousand square feet

The construction work of the first phase of the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport being built in Ayodhya will be completed by December 15, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday.

The airport is about to be finished ahead of the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, while the operations of flights would start before the proposed ‘pran pratishtha’ (consecration ceremony) of Ram Lala on January 22.

The airport has been named as the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport and will be able to accommodate Boeing 737, Airbus 319, and Airbus 320 aircraft.

The international airport, which would be built in two phases, would have an area of 50 thousand square feet and would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PM Modi will take part in a historic consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22. Several visitors and tourists are expected to visit Ayodhya next month to seek the blessings of Lord Ram and capture a glimpse of the idol’s ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony.

The chief minister, who visited the airport site on Saturday with Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation General (Retd) VK Singh, said Ayodhya is emerging as “an epitome of New India”, aligning with PM Modi’s vision.

CM Yogi said that earlier there was a very small airstrip in Ayodhya measuring only 178 acres, adding it has now been designed as a big international airport. Adityanath said the construction work of the new airport is going on a war footing by the Airports Authority of India after the state government provided 821 acres of land.

The chief minister said that people will get the infrastructure necessary for development of Ayodhya. The government is making efforts with full seriousness to restore Ayodhya’s glory, he added.
