Bungie will give Destiny 2 players free weekly Bright Dust starting in March

Had your eye on that Destiny 2 Exotic weapon ornament or emote but find yourself Bright Dust poor? There is no need to despair or mindlessly grind out Bounties. Bungie announced it will start giving away Bright Dust for free every week beginning in March.

The gifting is set to go on until the launch of The Final Shape expansion in June. And at 700 Bright Dust per weekly reset, it’s certainly no small amount to gloss over.

Bright Dust is one of the premium currencies found within Destiny 2. While players can earn it in-game through various means, it’s usually nothing too substantial. Bright Dust is used alongside Silver for purchases through the Eververse Store. It’s primarily a shop for cosmetic items like shaders, weapon ornaments, vehicles, or exclusive armor appearances. Though much of the Eververse Store demands Silver, every week, various goodies are sold for Bright Dust instead.

Bungie dropped this unexpected and generous news in Destiny 2’s latest This Week In Destiny communication. In a short section titled “The Future Is Bright,” Bungie explained, “As we head toward The Final Shape, we’re honoring Guardians with a new weekly gift of Bright Dust. Starting on March 5, players can visit the Eververse store to claim 700 Bright Dust each week leading up to the launch of The Final Shape. Make sure to log in, get your Dust, and spend wisely, Guardians.”

Bright Dust transactions have historically been absent for some of the hottest Destiny 2 cosmetics, like the Witcher crossover armor. That said, plenty of spend-worthy choices are available each week, especially if players have missed past seasons or holiday events. With (by my count) 9100 extra Bright Dust, do yourself a favor and treat yourself.
