Camera Assistant update with confusing changelog lands on Galaxy S23

Samsung’s Camera Assistant app is getting a new update that adds a couple of new features to the ever-growing Galaxy S23 series camera suite. That’s the theory, at least. The changelog isn’t doing the best job to clarify what’s new.

Camera Assistant is getting updated to version 1.1.02.2. The update weighs a little over 8MB, and the changelog mentions two big changes for the Galaxy S23:

  • Add the adaptive pixel [S23]
  • Delete the fast capture of high resolution [S23]

Needless to say, the changelog isn’t very clear as to what version 1.1.02.2 does. For example, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200MP camera is an “Adaptive Pixel” one, but the Camera Assistant app already supported the Ultra model’s primary camera. So, what the first line in the changelog means is up for debate. And so is the rest of the changelog, apart from a clear requirement regarding June firmware.

Namely, these latest changes and additions need “software update after June.” In other words, this new Camera Assistant update seems to work hand-in-hand with the June 2023 mega update Samsung started rolling out earlier this month.

Although it’s developed by Good Lock Labs, the Camera Assistant app is independent of the Good Lock platform and isn’t region-locked. You should be able to download the latest version for your Samsung device from the Galaxy Store by using our link or by searching the store manually on your phone.
