CHR strives to help employees build work-life balance

The pandemic provided a time of discovery for Colorado Home Realty CEO Matt Hudson and his team.

With everyone working remotely, the company found new ways to stay connected and learned what’s most important.

“We want our employees to live the life they want to live,” Hudson says. “We give our employees unlimited vacation. If they do their job well and want to take six months off, good for you.”

The company also lets its employees set their own schedules.

“When people are able to create that life balance, it creates better experiences and better outcomes,” he says.

That flexibility is one reason why the company’s employees made the company the top-rated mid-size business on the 2022 Top Workplaces list. This is the first time Colorado Home Realty has made the list.

Looking ahead

Staying on top of a volatile housing market keeps Hudson and his employees nimble. And although the economy nationally may face challenges, he anticipates the Denver metro will continue to be a popular place to live.

He also wants to ensure Colorado Home Realty provides a meaningful work experience.

“It’s not just about the profit,” Hudson says. “People want to have a job that challenges us, empowers us and makes us feel satisfied.”

A few years ago, people thought innovation would make real estate agents obsolete. In a business that’s full of incompetence and mediocrity, that seemed feasible, Hudson says.

“Sadly, some humans are terrible at their jobs.”

But buying and selling homes is a complicated process and customers are best served by real estate agents who can serve as their advocates.

“We’re going to double down and continue to show a commitment to excellence,” Hudson says. “We strive to provide true value to the consumer.”

Calling Colorado home

Colorado provides a rare combination of a strong economy and appealing lifestyle choices.

“There’s value to living here,” he says. “Why would you want to live somewhere you have 250 days or rain, when you can have 325 days of sunshine here.”

Colorado Home Realty’s employees work and play hard.

“We’re skiers, hikers, joggers and cyclists,” Hudson says. “Truth be told, we’re all addicted to endorphins and the incomparable Rocky Mountain lifestyle.”
