K-12 focussed edtech startup ConveGenius has closed $7 million in fresh financing, led by UBS Optimus Foundation.

The funding round saw participation from Mount Judi Ventures and existing investors The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF), Bace Capital, Heritas Capital and Gray Matters Capital.

ConveGenius provides schools with conversational artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as chatbots, among other products and services.

The fresh funds will help the company advance the generative AI capabilities of its conversational AI platform SwiftChat and expand into international markets, it said.

Founded in 2013 by Jairaj Bhattacharya and Shashank Pandey, ConveGenius has three business verticals. SwiftChat’s conversational AI bot store has 143 million registered user profiles and is adopted in over 577,000 schools in India.

Swift School’s personalised adaptive learning platform, implemented in over 25,000 schools across 16 states, creates and offers interactive educational content for over 4 million students.

Thirdly, Swift Insights’ large-scale assessments and data intelligence platform measures learning outcomes for 7 million students across 20 states in India and four other countries. “Our team remains steadfast in the pursuit of empowering every learner, starting with India and fostering data-driven governance for transformative change in education. The capital raised will empower us to export another Indian technology to global markets,” said Bhattacharya, who is also the managing director of ConveGenius.

Bhattacharya told ET that the product is currently deployed in international markets such as Vietnam, and other parts of Southeast Asia and Africa. The company registered a turnover of $6.5 million in 2023, and expects to grow to Rs 12 million over 2024, he added.
