Donald Trump posted to his Truth Social network about his recent legal woes after being indicted, blaming amongst other things, mutants.
Donald Trump posted to his Truth Social network about his recent legal woes, after being arrested and arraigned last Tuesday for the second time in less than three months. Trump surrendered to authorities at the Wilkie D Ferguson Jr United States Courthouse in Miami, Florida on thirty-seven federal charges stemming from his alleged unlawful retention of national defence information. The arraignment came after a federal grand jury indicted the former president. Trump first revealed the indictment on Truth Social platform on 8 June and followed up with a number of tweets, including this particularly peculiar one.
Congratulating fundraisers for the multi-millionaire, Donald Trump stated “Really big fundraising, even greater polls, since the radical left indictment hoax was initiated by the misfits, mutants, marxists, & communists! Thank you !!!” Blaming the left, marxists and communists is hardly new, “misfits” is his version of “deplorables”, but mutants? That’s a new one. And in this day and age, that’s synonymous with Marvel’s X-Men or Magneto’s brotherhood.
Normally, Donald Trump is a Batman fan. He posted a thoroughly positive review of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, and then used Tom Hardy‘s speech as Bane as an acceptance speech years later. But while Obama was a big fan of the Conan and Spider-Man comic books, it may have been Trump’s best friend, biggest donor, appointed political actor and former Chairman of Marvel, Ike Perlmutter, who introduced Trump to words like “mutants”. Perlmutter was obsessed with reducing the importance of the X-Men within Marvel, in favour of the Inhumans, over a battle between Marvel Comics and Fox Studios. So if Perlmutter was down on mutants, maybe Trump was too? As opposed to realising that most people like the mutants of Marvel, from Wolverine to Nightcrawler to Storm, they build franchises and fascination. Although maybe if Trump got to know Hank McCoy, The Beast better, he’d be more sympathetic.
And after all, we now know that Donald Trump can declassify documents just by thinking about it, which is some Omega-level telepathic mutant powers right there. And just like mutants, he keeps coming back from the dead.
