Evil, the Wildest Show You’re Not Watching, Will End With Season 4

It’s a day of excitement and sadness for Evil fans. The Paramount+ horror series about a trio of paranormal investigators engaged by the Catholic church, which already has three delightfully twisted seasons in the bag, will end after season four. But! Season four has an arrival window (this May) and the show will soon film four bonus episodes to serve as a satisfying series finale.

And, more good news: there’s a teaser trailer for season four, which is predictably enigmatic—but also captures Evil’s excellent blend of wider mythology (apocalyptic forces, always conspiring against humanity) with wacky monster-of-the-week shenanigans (weirder assignments? Yes, please). This clip contains no sign of a certain devilish baby that was heavily teased at the end of season three, but you know that’s going to come into play eventually.

As fans know, Evil’s past two seasons have featured thematic episode titles (season two used the alphabet, like “Z Is for Zombie” and “C Is for Cannibal,” while season three investigated various demons: “The Demon of Cults,” etc.), and it looks like season four will follow the same pattern. Preview photos shared by Paramount+ reveal it’ll be a “How to” season, as in “How to Train a Werewolf” or, in a wink at Evil’s embrace of how malevolent modern technology can be, “How to Teach a ChatBot.”

“We want to thank Paramount+ for giving us four bonus episodes to end Evil in the world in style,” Robert and Michelle King, series co-creators, showrunners, and executive producers said in a press release. “We will miss this show and cast. In many ways it was a dream project, but sadly evil will outlast Evil. See you in May.”

Here are the photos (some are previously released) from season four so far, with episode titles noted, showing cast members Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, Aasif Mandvi, and Andrea Martin in action; the main ensemble also features Michael Emerson, Kurt Fuller, and Christine Lahti.
