The German luxury automaker Mercedes Benz launched its flagship electric sedan the EQS back in September of last year. Ever since then, the model has remained as the most expensive yet efficient electric vehicles in India. The model has launched in the country at a starting price of Rs 1.55 crore but this price tag has not scared away a few people in the country. Most recently the first-ever EQS sedan in the state of Goa was delivered to a young entrepreneur.

The video of the delivery of this Goa’s first Mercedes Benz was shared on Facebook and the delivery was taken by Harish Padiyar – MD, Axzora Pvt. Ltd. which is an IT firm that has been operating in Goa. The model chosen by the young entrepreneur is finished in the shade of Obsidian Black. The all-electric EQS sedan from the German luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz is the brand’s top-of-the-line flagship EV sedan and it is the electrified iteration of the S-Class sedan. A huge 107.8 kWh battery pack comes as standard on the brand-new EQS 580 4MATIC sedan. The EQS EV sedan boasts the biggest battery pack that is currently available in any electric in the country as of yet. This large battery pack helps the EQS to achieve one of the longest EV ranges in India. The company claims that the EQS has a driving range of 857 km and once drained it can be topped up in 15 minutes and get the battery recharged for the next 300 km.

Mercedes-Benz also focused on the sedan’s design to make it extremely efficient as well. It has a very low drag coefficient and a very aerodynamic design. Its value (cd- 0.2) is the lowest of any production automobile in the world, which translates into improved driving range performance.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC’s powertrain is comprised of two electric motors. Both of them are installed, one on the front axle and one on the back. This turns it into an all-wheel-drive sedan, and the electric motor’s combined output is 523 horsepower and 856 Nm of maximum torque. The car’s 0-100 kmph time is under 4.2 seconds. The electric sedan’s top speed is restricted to 210 Kmph. The battery in the EQS can be charged from dead to 80 percent with a fast charger in just 31 minutes.

Being the flagship Mercedes Benz electric sedan the car comes loaded with features and luxury materials on the inside as well.  It gets a Hyperscreen, which consists of three dashboard screens connected by a glass panel. It also comes equipped with features like 3D maps, a head-up display, massaging functions for the front seats, Burmester 3D audio, air filtration, MBUX tablets for the passengers in the back seats, nine airbags, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automated emergency braking, and more. The EQS 580 also offers rear wheel steering, however Mercedes-Benz will only make this feature available to the first 500 buyers of the vehicle.

Earlier in May of last year the company also launched the SUV iteration of the EQS as well. The SUV also comes with same 107.8-kWh lithium-ion battery that powers the EQS premium sedan. Mercedes Benz offers the EQS SUV in one variant and it comes available in two versions: a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive EQS 450+ and a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive EQS 450 4Matic, both with 359 horsepower and 568 and 800 Nm of torque, respectively. On the WLTP cycle, the car’s efficiency is estimated to be between 23.0 and 18.6kWh/100km, corresponding to ranges of between 535 and 659km. The twin-motor EQS 450 4Matic can go between 506 and 613 kilometres on a single charge.
