Google redesigns weather card on mobile web

Google has decided to redesign the weather card on mobile web. In other words, if you go to Google search, and search up “weather” or “weather in [your city]”, you’ll get a really nice weather card to check out. Well, that weather card got redesigned.

This new weather card brings a new prompt pointing at a change. The prompt says: “New! A fresh look for weather that gives you more details about your forecast”.

In the top-left corner, you’ll see the current temperature, and what it “feels like”. In the top-right corner, you’ll get the condition, precipitation, humidity, and wind info. The overflow menu allows you to toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, by the way.

Now, the “Overview” is the first of four tabs with a 24-hour forecast, and Google updated the iconography. The other tabs deliver Precipitation, Wind, and Humidity info.

If you check out the bottom of the card, you’ll see a second carousel, which will keep you informed on the 10-day outlook. Google did not change the source of its weather info, though, it’s still weather.com.

You still won’t see this change in the Google app for Android

What’s interesting is that you still won’t see this change in the Google app for Android. It is available if you search for “weather” in Google search, though. The change will likely roll out to the Google app at some point, though, unless Google wants to keep the two experiences separate.

There was nothing wrong with the previous view, to be quite honest. It looked really nice, and modern, but this new view does bring more information front and center. Whether it looks better or not, well, that’s up for you to decide. The former design did look a bit more spacious, however.

This change should be available to everyone at this point, as long as you search for “weather” info via Google search, regardless of the browser.
