As the final launch day approaches, a multitude of new spy shots of the Japanese automaker Honda’s mid-size SUV, the Elevate, are emerging. Most recently, several new pictures of this forthcoming SUV have surfaced online, revealing that the Honda Elevate will be significantly larger in all dimensions compared to its current outgoing sibling, the HR-V (known as the Vezel in Japan), which is a compact SUV sold by the brand in the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM).
The recent spy shots were shared by Rushlane, showcasing a camouflaged Honda Elevate being tested on Japanese highways. The first picture depicts the Honda Elevate alongside the Honda HR-V (Vezel), highlighting the Elevate’s larger road presence and greater width and height compared to the HR-V. In the Japanese market, the HR-V boasts fairly decent dimensions, measuring 4340 mm in length, 1790 mm in width, 1582 mm in height, and a 2610 mm long wheelbase.
It is anticipated that the Honda Elevate will likely measure around 4.4 m in length and have a width ranging from 1820 to 1850 mm. Reports also suggest that its height could be approximately 1650 mm. If these rumors hold true, the Honda SUV will become the largest in its segment. Combined with its upright stance, muscular appearance, and boxy proportions, this SUV could dominate the competition.

The Elevate represents the Japanese automaker’s newest product, which could potentially turn its fortunes in the country. Recent reports also reveal that initially, the company will only offer this SUV with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. According to sources, this powerplant will generate a maximum of 119 bhp of power and 145 Nm of torque. Most likely, this sole powerplant will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT transmission. Furthermore, the e:HEV hybrid powertrain currently offered with the hybrid Honda City might also be offered with this SUV in the future. Unfortunately, there will be no diesel powerplant available.
Honda recently announced that the Elevate, along with all upcoming products, will be equipped with the Honda Sensing Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This system incorporates various sensors and cameras to enhance driver awareness and mitigate potential hazards on the road, offering a comprehensive range of safety features.
Just a few days ago, the company released a new teaser for the SUV, showcasing a single-pane electric sunroof. The car is also expected to feature a touchscreen infotainment system, compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an automatic climate control system, cruise control, and other safety features.
In terms of pricing, it is expected that Honda will launch this model in the Rs 12-19 lakh range. Upon its launch, it will compete against mid-size SUV segment champions such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and a few others.
