While there have been many reasons behind its success story in the country, the constant design and feature updates that the SUV has received in all these years are the biggest contributors to its success. In a recent development, a few pictures of Hyundai Creta in a rare shade of yellow. The car was spotted by 91wheels. While some might believe that the SUV has received a new shade in its lineup, well, that’s not the case.
This yellow-coloured Hyundai Creta E variant spied in one of the dealer stockyards is a custom-made unit, which was there to be delivered to the authorities of a local airport. The airport authorities usually prefer yellow-coloured cars on runway duties because the visibility of the yellow colour is very high – it is visible even in all-time zero visibility and dark conditions. In such low light conditions, piloting an aircraft to the runway can be taxing for pilots. In such cases, yellow-coloured vehicles are used for manoeuvring an aircraft on a destined path.

This statement by the dealer authorities confirmed that the Hyundai Creta will not be offered in this shade of yellow for the regular customer base. In the past, the facelifted version of the first-generation Hyundai Creta, sold between 2018 to 2020, got two bright colour options – Marina Blue and Passion Orange. Apart from these youthful-looking colour options, the Creta has always been available in subtler-looking paint shades.
The Hyundai Creta, in its current second-generation avatar, is offered in a host of variant and powertrain combinations. The SUV can be had in one of the three engine options on offer – a 1.5-litre 115 PS petrol engine with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT or a CVT, a 1.5-litre 115 PS diesel engine with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter, and a 1.4-litre 140 PS turbocharged petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Currently, the Hyundai Creta range starts at Rs 10.44 lakh for the base E variant with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and goes up to Rs 18.18 lakh for the top-spec SX(O) variant with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The Creta is currently ruling the roost of the premium compact SUV segment over its direct rivals like Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and Nissan Kicks. It will also compete with the new upcoming petrol SUVs from Toyota and Maruti Suzuki in the same space.
