Instagram is making it easier for people to create Reels, improving the templates, which let people create Reels based on others, announced Instagram head Adam Mosseri in a post (or a Reel).
As the name suggests, a template is essentially a preset, which users can use to create their short video. For instance, a template could consist of a sequence of ten 0.5-second clips, which a user can use and put their own photos or videos, select the music they like, and have the Reel ready to go live.
A new template browser that recommends users Reels templates
Until now, the templates only showed up on the Reels, but now there will be a whole new “template browser,” which will allow users to search through different templates, and they can sort by category, choose popular ones, or simply pick one out from their recommendations. Further, the browser will also show templates or audio, the user has saved.
To access the template browser, simply click on the “create” button from the home page, then select the “Reel” option. Next, tap on the images in the lower left corner of the screen to access your camera gallery, and click on “templates.” Alternatively, you can find the template browser through the Reels tab by clicking on the camera icon, then selecting “templates.”
Let’s say you come across a Reel that you want to make for yourself. Then, all you need to do is tap the “use template” button on the reel to begin using it. You can also check out how other users have used templates created by your favourite creators by tapping on the “template by” button in the reel.
Reels templates are customisable, allowing users to add or remove clips, adjust the timing of individual clips, and edit any preloaded elements.
When using a template, the reel’s audio, number of clips, duration, and AR effects are automatically added. Soon, users will also be able to use the original Reel’s text and transitions.
