Several rumours have been swirling around about Gal Gadot’s starring film, Wonder Woman. It was previously reported that Warner Bros. will not move forward with Wonder Woman 3. However, DC Studios’ new head, James Gunn, recently revealed Wonder Woman’s future.
Taking to social media, the filmmaker debunked the ongoing reports, claiming ‘it’s not true.’ A social media account shared a report while writing, “Variety reports Wonder Woman will not appear in the first 3 years of the DCU at all.” While replying to the tweet, Gunn wrote, “I hereby debunk it (only because it’s not true).”
Moreover, the latest report claiming Ezra Miller would continue as The Flash after their solo film isn’t in the early DCU plans is also swirling around. While talking about Miller’s Flash career goes, Gunn claimed he wasn’t aware of what was being reported about the actor’s future after their June movie releases. He also cleared the confusion over the length of the DCU slate.
The DC Studios head specified that their slate would span 8-10 years, with some of the projects being announced this month. One fan asked, “Can you discuss at all the report from Variety in regards to Ezra Miller/the notion that your slate is only 3 years worth of projects?” To which Gunn replied, “I don’t know what’s out there about Ezra but our slate is 8 to 10 years (but we will only be announcing some of it this month).”
Previously, director Patty Jenkins broke her silence regarding her involvement with Wonder Woman 3. After it was previously reported that the third film in the Wonder Woman franchise is not moving forward, the director expressed in a lengthy Twitter post on Tuesday that she needed to provide ‘facts’ about the situation.
Patty Jenkins begins her lengthy statement, “When there started being backlash about WW3 not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me that killed it or walked away started to spread. This is simply not true. I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me.”
Warner Bros. announced in December 2020 that another Wonder Woman sequel was in the works. Before the film’s production, Jenkins had been pegged to direct Disney’s Rogue Squadron, making her the first woman ever to helm a Star Wars film. Addressing the same, the director continues, “I originally left Rogue Squadron after a long and productive development process when it became clear it couldn’t happen soon enough and I did not want to delay WW3 any further.”
