Jeremy Renner is celebrating 10 months of recovery following his New Year’s Day snowplow accident in January.
The Hawkeye actor took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a video of him skipping and running up and down a driveway at an incline. He wrote in the caption, “Today marks the day on 10 months of recovery …. First attempt at any of this activity (especially at steep grade) and was brought to tears of joy, hopefulness, and gratitude for all your support along with my family and friends…. I keep pushing for many reasons, but you are my fuel.”
It’s a big milestone for Renner, who has spent the year relearning how to walk after being run over by a 14,300-pound snowcat at his home in Reno, Nevada. He previously said that he was attempting to stop the machine from hitting his nephew when he got pulled underneath the PistenBully, leaving him with 30 broken bones.
The Mayor of Kingstown actor was then airlifted to a hospital, where he underwent surgery for “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.” Once he was released, he continued to share video updates on his road to recovery in the months that followed.
In April, he told ABC News‘ Diane Sawyer in an interview that he had his rib cage rebuilt with metal, along with metal plates in his face to support his eye socket and titanium rods in one of his legs.
Earlier this month, Renner said that while he has been “exploring EVERY type of therapy” to help with his recovery, his “greatest therapy has been my mind and the will to be here and push to recover and be better…. Be exceptional.”
He added at the time, “I feel it’s my duty to do so. Not to squander my life being spared, but to give back to my family, friends, and all of you whom have empowered me to endure. I thank you all.”
