Kids running to the road or crossing roads without looking at oncoming traffic have caused several accidents in the past. In many cases, we have seen kids let go of their parents’ hands and cross the road. This is a common occurrence both in India and other countries. In most cases, the kids who run into the road escape with only minor injuries, but there have been cases where they’ve been seriously injured as well. Here we have a video of a kid who, after getting out of an autorickshaw with its mother, wandered away and ran to cross the road. The kid miraculously escaped being hit by a car.
The video of the accident has been shared by Media One on their YouTube channel. The accident happened somewhere in Kerala’s Kannur district. In this video, we see two women getting out of an autorickshaw. After the first woman got out, she started talking to the auto driver, probably to make the payment. While she was talking, the kid got out of the auto. The mother got distracted by the driver, and the other woman was still getting out.
The kid who got out of the autorickshaw saw it as an opportunity to cross the road, as he probably knew no one was looking at him. The kid came to the rear of the auto and started running to the other side of the road. Just as the kid was crossing, a Maruti Brezza was coming from the opposite direction. The driver couldn’t see the kid, as the auto was parked in front of him. Just as the car approached, the kid came in front of the vehicle.
The driver tried his best and swerved the car away from the kid. The kid did not come in front of the car, but he did hit the door. The kid probably fell on the road after hitting the car. The car driver was also not sure what just happened. He immediately stopped the car and got out to check the vehicle. Meanwhile, the mother, who was speaking with the auto driver, saw the crash and came running towards the kid.
Soon, locals gathered around to check on the kid. The mother picked up the kid and started looking for any injuries. It is not clear whether the kid was injured in any way after hitting the car or if he was alright. The kid was extremely lucky to have escaped this accident. The alert car driver did manage to avert a major accident. The car was only a few centimeters away from the kid and also from crashing into a streetlight pole on the road.
This video once again shows how risky Indian roads are. One should always be alert on the road, and parents should also be more attentive, especially when they are traveling with small kids. If you are with your kid, it is always a good idea to hold his/her hand to ensure that they don’t wander away. The kid in this case was lucky to escape without any injuries.
