Lady Justice Brewing, which has been a fixture of the Front Range beer scene since 2016, will close its Aurora taproom at the end of the month in anticipation of moving.
According to an announcement on social media, the brewery has outgrown its current home at 9735 E. Colfax Ave. and plans to relocate to “a much larger space.” A representative from the brewery was not immediately available to discuss where Lady Justice will set up shop next or how soon. It’s unclear if Lady J beers will be available anywhere in the interim.
“We are both sad and excited to share that February will be our last month of operation at 9735 East Colfax,” the announcement reads, in part. “This has been a long time coming and we are excited to share more with you very soon. Until then, come down and visit us.”
Founded by Betsy Lay, Kate Power, and Jen Cuesta, Lady Justice was serving locals beer long before it had a taproom. According to Porch Drinking, the operation started nomadically, selling beer through a subscription-based membership program before inking a deal with Denver’s now-defunct Factotum Brewhouse to share its physical space.
Lady Justice opened its Aurora taproom in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Though the brewery’s model has changed over the years, its mission has not. Lady J donates proceeds to charities that support and empower women and girls in Colorado. To date, the company has donated more than $50,000 to more than 30 nonprofits, its website says.
The brewery’s founders have also been leaders in making the craft beer industry a safe space for women and the LGBTQ+ community, and advocating for representation among the ranks of industry personnel.
