Mahindra recently launched the all-new Scorpio N SUV and was one of the most anticipated products from the manufacturer this year. The SUV has started reaching dealerships and delivery of the same has also started. We have also started seeing videos where people have started taking the SUV off-road. It received an overwhelming response from customers and just like Thar and XUV700, Scorpio N also has long waiting periods now. We have seen ownership experience videos of Scorpio N on internet and here we have an in-depth video that shows how Scorpio N 4×4 SUV performed off-road.
The video has been uploaded by Anshuman Bishnoi on their YouTube channel. In this video an all-new Mahindra Scorpio N is seen off-roading with a Fortuner and a Ford Endeavour. The Scorpio N was being driven in 2WD format to show how capable it is in 2WD. The MLD feature in the Scorpio N was kicking in whenever one of the rear wheel was in air. Once the MLD engaged, the Scorpio N could easily come out of the hurdles. Once the SUV cleared the off-road section in 2WD, Fortuner and Endeavour also attempted to clear the same.

The Fortuner’s traction control does not work in 2WD and the SUV was seen struggling. The Endeavour on the other hand managed to clear. Scorpio N performed very well in almost all the off-road seaction. The approach and departure angle of the Scorpio N is not the best. The rear overhangs were very close to touching the ground while it was climbing a steep section. The ground clearance of the SUV is another issue with Scorpio N. When compared to Endeavour and Fortuner, Scorpio N had lower ground clearance and it even got beached at one point.
The video then talks about the positives and negatives of the Scorpio N after it was driven off-road extensively. starting with the positives, it is an extremely good car when compared to Scorpio Classic. It is superior in terms of fit and finish, engine and transmission and even features. The suspension set up on Scorpio N is brilliant for an SUV at this price point. It is definitely a value for money product. There are minor issues which Mahindra will rectify soon. Even in 2WD form, the Scorpio N is performing well when compared to other 2 SUVs. It is a good car for touring and off-roading but, it is not the best SUVs to take for extreme off-roading sessions.
Video explains the reason behind that as well. He mentions that there is no underbody protection for Scorpio N and the placement of the DPF tank makes modification on rear bumper difficult. Similarly, the wheel wells on the Scorpio N are not deep and that means the owner will have to make modifications to install a bigger size wheel and tyre. snow chains cannot be installed even on the stock wheels because there is no space left inside the wheel well. The ground clearance of the SUV cannot be increased because of the suspension set up in the Scorpio N. The video mentions that Scorpio N is a brilliant product and it only has minor issues.
