Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Toyota Innova in a pile-up crash on highway!

A serial accident which took place in Udupi, Karnataka, saw two of the safest cars on sale in India – Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon – damaged severely. While the Mahindra XUV300 looks completely damaged in the accident with its occupants sustaining serious injuries, the occupants of the Tata Nexon escaped with minor injuries.

The high-speed serial accident took place on the National Highway no. 66 near Ambalpady Junction in Udupi, in which a truck, a Toyota Innova, a Mahindra XUV300 TurboSport and a Tata Nexon collided serially.

According to the reports claimed by witnesses, the driver of the Innova, which was moving ahead of all the vehicles involved here in the crash, applied brakes suddenly in the middle of the road. Due to this, other vehicles rammed into the Innova with each other.

In the accident, the Mahindra XUV300 was being driven by a woman, who was accompanied by her child. From the pictures, it looks like the XUV300 is the vehicle which suffered the most in this accident. The pictures of the accident site show that the XUV300, in the Blazing Bronze shade, looks destroyed from both front and rear. However, the pillars of the XUV300 have absorbed the impact nicely, with no damages to the XUV300 between the A and C pillars visible.

Even the Tata Nexon has absorbed all the impacts very well, thus proving its strong build quality once again in a serious car accident. Even the Innova suffered only minor damages to its rear. The traffic on the NH 66 was disrupted for some time due to this accident. Social activist Vishu Shety Ambalpady and Udupi Traffic Police came to the rescue and helped in taking the people injured to the nearest hospital.

Maintain distance

The braking distance is affected a lot of factors including the condition of the tyre and the condition of the roads. In wet conditions, due to lower traction, the vehicles take longer to slow down, which increases the overall stopping distance. This is why vehicles should slow down in the wet conditions and at high speed, which is above 80 km/h, the vehicles need to maintain a 5-second distance from the vehicle ahead.

This accident has once again proved the importance of maintaining distance from the vehicle moving ahead. Indian roads are filled with uncertainties and irresponsible people who drive or ride carelessly. To avoid mishaps like this accident, it is important to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle, which can help you avoid a possible serial crash in case the driver of the vehicle moving ahead applies brakes suddenly. Both the Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon are two of the safest sub-four metre compact SUVs on sale in India, with both of them having scored a commendable five-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests in the past.
