Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer, announced the Rock N Road 4×4 Masters competition for Jimny owners in India last month. The manufacturer has now announced the completion of the North zone qualifying leg of the competition. Rock N Road comprises a series of off-road driving competitions designed to bring Jimny enthusiasts together with the aim of successfully completing an off-road adventure over two days. Special stages are included to test driving skills in off-road conditions. The winners of these events then qualify to participate in the finals and win the competition.
The competition was launched on January 27th in Delhi, and on February 3rd, the Chandigarh chapter was conducted. This is a great event for drivers interested in off-roading and budding off-roading enthusiasts who own a Jimny. The next leg of the competition will take place in Shillong, Meghalaya, on February 17th, followed by Hyderabad on February 24-25th, and Vagamon, Kerala, on March 2nd-3rd. The event will reach Mumbai/Pune on March 16-17, and the event will take place in Goa on March 21-22nd. The finale of the event will take place on 23rd March in Goa. The teams that win each leg of this competition are qualified for the finals. The Jimny owners are divided into two categories: owners with stock vehicles and those with modified ones. Participants in the qualifiers are required to complete 8 challenges, referred to as Special Stages (SS), over two days of the competition.
Along with other prizes, the two winners of the competition finale in Goa will get a chance to experience global off-roading events. In the Delhi chapter, Manav Arya and Shantanu Grover emerged as winners in the stock and modified sections, respectively, while in the Chandigarh qualifiers, Gurmeet Virdi and Mankaran Singh Bhambra were the winners in the stock and modified categories.
The Suzuki Jimny is an extremely popular SUV among enthusiasts globally. India was the first country to get the more practical 5-door version of this SUV. The SUV is manufactured here in India and exported to other markets. India manufactures both 3-door and 5-door versions of the SUV. The car is available with a K15 B-series naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 103 Bhp and 134 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission option.
