MG Gloster ‘Black Storm’ Edition to debut tomorrow

MG Motor India is readying the launch of a special edition of their popular Gloster SUV, the Black Storm edition, set to debut on May 29. The MG Gloster premium SUV sold 4551 units in April 2023.

The Gloster Black Storm, as its name suggests, will sport a sleek all-black exterior color scheme, complemented by red accents on the bumpers, outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), and side panels. Exclusive Black Storm badging will grace the vehicle’s rear profile, adding to its unique appeal.

Inside, the cabin receives a matching treatment, featuring all-black upholstery and red ambient lighting, creating a luxurious, eye-catching environment.

The SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine with two options – rhe single turbo option will produce a maximum power of 161 BHP and 375 Nm of peak torque, while the twin-turbo variant will generate a potent 215 BHP and 480 Nm torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission will come as standard across both engine options.

The Black Storm will carry over notable features from the standard Gloster model. This includes dual climate control, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, an automatic panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and voice command functionality, along with the capability for autonomous parallel parking.

Competing against well-known models like the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Skoda Kodiaq, the Black Storm Edition could MG India shore up its sales.

External details such as a metal black finish, red accents on the front and rear skid plates, ORVMs, and door panels, and red inserts in the headlight clusters contribute to the vehicle’s striking aesthetics. The front grille, Gloster lettering on the tailgate, alloy wheels, and fog lamp surrounds are all finished in black, enhancing the SUV’s “black storm” theme.

The interior also exudes a dark vibe with black upholstery and dashboard, with a red hue on all dashboard and center console buttons, red-colored floor mats, red inserts on door pads, and red ambient lighting. To match the cabin’s overall theme, the infotainment system and instrument cluster might also adopt the red theme. In the lead-up to the Black Storm’s launch, MG discontinued the entry-level Super variant of the Gloster, focusing instead on the Sharp & Savvy trims.
