Multi-crore Rolls Royce Phantom luxury saloon abandoned outside a hotel: This is its story

Spotting an expensive car abandoned by its owner is quite sad to see, especially for fans and enthusiasts like you and me. While some do it intentionally, there are others who have no choice but to leave it. Though we’ve seen videos and images of several expensive and exotic cars on the road, occasionally we come across images of such expensive cars that were abandoned by their owners. We’ve featured such images and the stories behind those cars in the past. Recently, a set of images has surfaced online showing a previous generation Rolls Royce Phantom VII abandoned by its previous owner.

Gautam Kundu’s RR Phantom VII

The image has been shared by Car Crazy India on their Facebook channel, along with the story behind this particular Rolls Royce Phantom. The car seen here was owned by Gautam Kundu, the owner of the Rose Valley group of companies. In 2015, Rose Valley Group made headlines due to a financial scam. The group has been accused of duping investors of about Rs 17,000 crores across different states. The money was primarily accumulated through small investments in rural areas in at least half a dozen states. Gautam Kundu, the owner/chairman/promoter of this group, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in March 2015 and has been under judicial custody since then.

The Rose Valley group collected funds from the common gullible public by floating fake and fictitious schemes and defaulted on repayments. The ED has already attached and seized properties valued at Rs 1117.71 crore prior to the current attachment. The total attachment in this case, to date, is Rs 1171.71 crore.

The Rolls Royce Phantom seen in these images was owned by Gautam Kundu and was purchased in 2012. This is said to be one of the most expensive cars owned by Mr. Kundu. The exact location of this car is not known; however, the post mentions that the car is currently parked at a hotel that once belonged to the Rose Valley Group. Many of Kundu’s assets have been attached, and it is unclear whether this Phantom VII is one of them.

The black luxury sedan lies out in the open on the hotel’s porch. Dust has accumulated on the car, and it appears that the suspension has collapsed. Everything about this image looks sad because it is an extremely beautiful car left to rot in the open. Apart from the collapsed suspension, it seems the car has no other issues (though we cannot confirm). Rolls Royce is a brand often associated with luxury, known for crafting some of the most luxurious cars in the world. The Phantom was and still is the flagship saloon from the luxury car maker.

The Rolls Royce Phantom VII was powered by a 6.75-liter V12 petrol engine generating 460 Ps and 720 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, and all the power is sent to the rear wheels. We sincerely hope the ED puts this car up for auction, and an enthusiast or wealthy individual purchases and restores it to its former glory.
