It has already become a hit among driving enthusiasts who want an affordable SUV with a macho persona, with some even buying it as their primary car and a first-time purchase. However, some affluent car owners are buying the Thar as their secondary choice as a lifestyle off-roading vehicle. One such person shared his experience on T-BHP. He went to take the delivery of his new Mahindra Thar in his Lamborghini Huracan.

Sharing his experience of buying a new Mahindra Thar, the Lamborghini Huracan explained how he ended up choosing the Thar as his new daily driver.

According to Arnav, he randomly took a test drive of a Mahindra Thar and loved the overall experience. However, his wife was not impressed much with the interior quality and stiff ride quality of the Mahindra Thar compared to his previously-owned SUVs like Range Rover Vogue and Audi Q7. Despite reluctance shown by his wife, Arnav booked the Mahindra Thar, but shortly after a few days, he cancelled it and started his search for a more premium vehicle.
He ended up choosing the three-door Land Rover Defender 90 as his next purchase, and after taking a test drive, he decided to book the premium SUV. However, he decided to drop the decision due to the nine-month long waiting period of the Defender 90. Arnav wanted a new SUV on an urgent basis, which is why he once again called the Mahindra dealership for asking about the possibility of a sooner delivery of the Thar.
To his surprise, the Mahindra dealership arranged a new Thar in just two days, despite the long waiting period for the Mahindra SUV. On the day of delivery, Arnav went to the Mahindra showroom in his Lamborghini Huracan and took the delivery of his new Mahindra Thar LX diesel automatic 4WD in the shade of Napoli Black. Arnav also customized his Thar with an aftermarket LED headlamp, a black finish for the rearview mirrors, a more aggressive seven-slot grille, a reverse parking camera and front parking sensors.
The Mahindra Thar is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. The Thar RWD is available with two powertrain combinations – a 2.0-litre 150 PS turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed automatic and a 1.5-litre 118 PS diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the Thar 4WD is on sale with a 2.0-litre 150 PS turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre 130 PS diesel engine, both of which are available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.
