In a clip with CBC titled Jam or Not a Jam, Lizzo, 34, was seen grooving to the Canadian rockers’ 2001 hit anthem How You Remind Me saying the track “has a beautiful climax.”

The Grammy winner then asked: “Why do people not like Nickelback? I feel like Nickelback gets way too much s—. I think this is a jam!”
Lizzo hinted lead singer Chad Kroeger’s early aughts wavy hairstyle might have been partially to blame for people slagging the band.

“Because [Kroeger] had a curly blonde perm,” she said. “That’s the only reason they get s—, because this is an amazing song.”
Nickelback reposted Lizzo’s segment to their Instagram last week, writing: “Thank you @lizzobeeating for the kind words! Open invite [to] any show any time … maybe see you in Houston this summer?”

In an interview with Postmedia last fall, Kroeger spoke about the genesis of How You Remind Me and how it came together after he got into a fight with his then-partner.
“I had a few lines that were written down in a black leather book I had: ‘Never made it as a wise man/ I couldn’t cut it as a poor man stealing.’ I had just gotten in an argument with my girlfriend at the time and I was just kind of pissed off. She was upstairs in the kitchen doing something and I was like singing this song right to her,” he recalled.
“When I went upstairs, I was kind of like, ‘Take that!’ You know, that was my vibe. And she turned and goes, ’It’s really good.’ But that’s not what I was looking for,” he said laughing. “It was not the missile I was trying to launch.”

The Canadian Music Hall of Fame rockers from Hanna, Alta., are set to hit the road this summer to promote their 10th studio LP, Get Rollin’.
Kroeger added their early start playing clubs across Canada in the mid-‘90s gave them a resilience to criticism that fuels them still.
“A lot of times we were just playing to bar staff. I remember being in Winnipeg at the Royal Albert and they were just smashing glasses on the dance floor. There were so many shows where we thought, ‘This is just horrific,’ but looking back on it, if we hadn’t gone through that it wouldn’t have given us the backbone I guess we have now. You can tell which bands didn’t have to go through those things.”
