Volkswagen Virtus GT: Off-roading Experience
Talking about the vehicle, the Virtus GT sports a segment-best ground clearance of 179 mm, which is quite high going by sedan standards. Apart from this, there are no factors in the sedan which would serve as an aid in the off-road test. It is a front-wheel drive car and comes with a traction control system as well.
To start off the affair, the owner takes the Virtus from a slightly steep incline which tests the break-over angle of the sedan and he somehow managed to cross the obstacle quite easily. In the second shot, the Virtus again easily crosses a water-logged railway under bridge with mild slush.
Later he took the sedan to a vacant piece of land and circled around the field to check its capabilities. He came out quite impressed as the car was quite manoeuvrable and managed to serve the purpose. The Virtus also managed to cross the last obstacle which was a minor hump flanked by declined surfaces on both ends, however, the owner reported that he heard the sound of a minor rub underneath the vehicle. He also showcased the point of contact where the car’s underbody rubbed with the obstacle. Towards the end of the video, the presenter also compared it to his previous sedan Verna and claimed that the Virtus fared better than the Verna in these tests.

The Volkswagen Virtus GT is powered by a 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine churning out 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox with paddle shifters. It also gets a 1.0-litre TSI engine putting out 115 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque, paired to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
