Oppo Find X7 Ultra is the first dual-periscope flagship, comes with second gen Sony 1-inch sensor

Oppo announced today its latest flagship – Find X7 Ultra. The phone brings a few firsts in the smartphone industry, including the world’s first dual-periscope telephoto cameras and the first device with a 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor.

The camera tuning was once again done in partnership with Swedish company Hasselblad. The quad-cam setup of the Find X7 Ultra brings the so called HyperTone engine that promises to keep your photos’ natural look without compromising quality.

Oppo put a 120 Hz 6.82” LTPO OLED at the front with QHD+ resolution. It has up to 4,500 nits peak brightness and supports ProXDR, which is Oppo’s take on the Ultra HDR image format.

The chipset is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, coupled with up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB UFS 4.0 storage.

The cameras are the key selling of the Find X7 Ultra, and for a reason. Oppo packed four mighty 50 MP sensors, with the second-generation 1-inch type Sony LYT-900 stacked sensor inside the wide camera. It has an f/1.8 aperture and OIS.

The ultra-wide-angle shooter is another new Sony sensor – LYT-600 with a 1/1.95” size and 14 mm equivalent focal length. It has an f/2.0 aperture and autofocus so it can shoot objects as close as 4 cm.

The dual-periscope solution is the unique bit. Oppo X7 Ultra retains the 65mm 3x periscope camera with 1/1.56” Sony IMX890 from the Oppo Find X6 Pro. It offers a bright f/2.6 aperture, OIS and a minimum focus distance of just 25cm.

Alongside that the X7 Ultra has a 135mm 6x telephoto camera with a 1/2.51” Sony IMX858 sensor. It also has OIS and can focus from 35cm.

Oppo claims the quad-cam setup offers smooth zoom between 14 mm and 270 mm, without a noticeable degradation in image quality.

The camera app of the Find X7 Ultra will come with a Master Mode, developed with Hasselblad. It’s an advanced Pro mode that will allow you to tune all the image parameters and enable RAW shooting. A 16-bit RAW MAX mode is coming in March with a software update.

The Oppo Find X7 Ultra comes with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The phone does come with Android 14 out of the box with the company’s own ColorOS on top.

The two-tone design from the previous series evolved and now it looks better designed. Color options are three – Ocean Blue, Sepia Brown, and Tailored Black.

The sad part is the Oppo Find X7 Ultra will only be available in China for the time being. Prices and sales dates will be confirmed later today.
