Realme C55 launched with Dynamic Island-like Mini Capsule

As promised, Realme today launched the Realme C55, with Apple’s Dynamic Island-like Mini Capsule being one of its biggest highlights, making C55 the first Realme smartphone to come with this feature. The Mini Capsule will display low battery alerts, the phone’s charging status, and data consumption. It will also show you your step count and walking distance of the day. However, data usage and step count won’t be available out of the box and will arrive later through an OTA update.

Another first for the C-series with the Realme C55 is the 33W SuperVOOC charging. It’s an upgrade over the C35’s 18W charging and makes the C55 the fastest-charging C-series smartphone yet. Chances are we won’t see any C-series smartphones from Realme charging slower than 33W this year since the company recently announced that most Realme smartphones in 2023 would support 33W or faster charging.

That said, the Realme C55 has the Helio G88 SoC at the helm with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage and runs Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0 out of the box. It also has a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion by up to 1TB.

The Realme C55 is built around a 6.72″ FullHD+ 90Hz screen with a peak brightness of 680 nits. But there is no fingerprint scanner underneath the display since that’s embedded in the power button on the right side of the phone’s frame.

The C55’s camera department includes three cameras – an 8MP selfie shooter on the front with a 64MP primary camera on the rear joined by a depth sensor.

The rest of the Realme C55’s highlights include USB-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and NFC. It is 7.89mm thick and comes with Dirac’s audio tuning.

Realme C55 color options

The Realme C55 is offered in Rainy Night and Sunshower colors. Its 6GB/128GB model is priced at IDR2,499,000 ($160/€150) and the 8GB/256GB version at IDR2,999,000 ($195/€180). It will go on sale in Indonesia starting March 8, noon local time, with a limited-time discount of IDR100,000 ($6/€6) on both models.
