The latest spy shots shed light on a new Royal Enfield scrambler-styled motorcycle based on the brand’s 650cc platform; USD forks, spoke rims and single unit flat seat are the highlights of the upcoming two wheeler.
Royal Enfield is already working on some cool new launches lined-up for the year-end or early 2023. These include the cruiser-styled Shotgun 650 and one more 650cc-based bike, reportedly called the Super Meteor. Now in the latest development, a test mule of what appears to be another 650cc scrambler-styled bike has been spied testing on foreign soils. The spy shot reveals quite a few essential details about the upcoming two-wheeler from the classic bike manufacturer.

Upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler: What we know?
Going by the spy shots, the 650cc-based test mule sports a round headlight upfront paired with the conventional halogen indicators. When looked at closely, we can also spot the USD front forks and the two-wheeler rides on spoke wheels. The bike seems to be using a regular handlebar and rearview mirrors. The affair is pretty neat at the rear with a round tail lamp and a pair of regular non-adjustable rear shocks. As for the exhaust is concerned, two separate cans from the head are merged into a single unit which extends all the way to the rear swing arm with a slight lift at the end. The flat bench-type seat and an upright riding stance speak of its scrambler styling. The petrol tank and rear subframe coupled with the grab handle reminds of the Interceptor and Continental 650, and this new bike could possibly use the same platform as these two. We expect the upcoming motorcycle to use a 19-inch front and an 18-inch wheel for the rear. Upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler: Powertrain
Powering the Scrambler 650 will be the familiar 648cc SOHC parallel twin engine belting out 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque. To maintain thermal efficiency, Royal Enfield will likely employ the same air and oil cooling system. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission and it is highly unlikely that we will see an assist and slipper clutch on the upcoming 650.
Upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler: Market Positioning and Launch
Royal Enfield will reveal the 650cc-based Scrambler at the EICMA in November 2022. While the launch is not expected to take place anytime soon in the near future, you will surely witness the market launch of other 650cc bikes from the brand such as much awaited SG650 and the Super Meteor. Apart from these, a liquid-cooled new-gen Himalayan 450 and J platform-based Bullet 350 are also in the works, which will launch by the first half of 2023.
As for the market positioning, this new Scram 650 will definitely be positioned above the existing 650 twins. Pricing is also expected to stand a notch above these, all thanks to the additional equipment that the brand will load into the bike.
