Royal Enfield has finally unveiled their most anticipated motorcycle Meteor 650 at EICMA 2022 in Milan, Italy. The motorcycle has been officially unveiled and the official launch of the motorcycle will happen soon. The motorcycle will be available in two variants. There is a Standard version and a Tourer. As the name suggests, Super Meteor 650 is actually a bigger version of the 350cc version that was launched in the market few years ago. Just like many other Royal Enfield motorcycles, Meteor 650 also has a neo retro design to it. Meteor 650 will be offered as the flagship cruiser from the Indian manufacturer.
Commenting on Royal Enfield’s cruiser lineage and approach to building motorcycles, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd. said, “We have always had a differentiated approach to building motorcycles and our new cruiser, the Super Meteor 650, is the next evolution of this approach. Inspired by our own long distance riding experiences and those of our customers, we have built the Super Meteor to be absolutely enjoyable to all senses. The engine is super refined and responsive and offers relaxed part-throttle experience at highway-plus speeds, the riding ergonomics are fine-tuned to offer a leisurely, yet in-control riding experience, and the overall premium fit-finish of parts and materials evoke visual and sensory delight. The gorgeous silhouette and contours of the Super Meteor have been inspired by generations of cruisers from Royal Enfield, and are at the same time, familiar, yet absolutely distinct.”

The motorcycle gets alloy wheels just like the Meteor 350. The front gets 19 inch wheels while the rear 16 inch units. As we move up, the motorcycle gets 43 mm chunky looking USD fork. This is the first time, Royal Enfield has ever used this set up on any of their motorcycle. The headlamps is round all LED unit which is again a first for the manufacturer. It also gets a revised insrument cluster and it comes with an integrated navigation system. Both front and rear get disc brakes and the motorcycle is equipped with dual-channel ABS.
The design of the fuel tank is the similar to what we have seen in other Royal Enfields. The tear drop shaped tank has 15.7 litres capacity. The motorcycle offers a low scalloped seat with wide pulled back handlebars. The motorcycle offers a forward set foot pegs which offer an overall relaxed riding position to the rider. Royal Enfield mentions that the new chassis used on the Super Meteor has a low center gravity and that helps in high speed stability and easy manoeuvrability. Coming to the engine, Super Meteor is powered by Royal Enfield’s 650-cc engine. This is the same motor which made its debut in the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 motorcycle.
The 648-cc, parallel twin cylinder engine generates 47 Bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed gear box with slip and assist clutch. The standard version of the motorcycle is available in 5 colours. It will be available in Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Grey and Interstellar Green. There is a tourer variant of the motorcycle is available in Celestial Red and Celestial Blue colours. The Super Meteor is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 3.5 lakh, ex-showroom to Rs 4 lakh, ex-showroom.
