Samsung’s Chromebooks getting USB-C cable alerts, better ZIP file handling with Chrome OS 102 update

Samsung’s Chromebooks have started getting the Chrome OS 102 update. This new operating system update brings better USB Type-C cable alerts and ease of use while using ZIP files. The update also makes laptops compatible with the Cursive app to take notes.

The Chrome OS 102 update now shows if the USB Type-C cable that you connected to your Chromebook supports display output. If you use a sub-optimal USB Type-C cable to connect your Chromebook to a Thunderbolt dock, the laptop will notify that the cable doesn’t support high-speed data transfer and Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 connectivity.

The update also brings the ‘Extract All’ option to ZIP files. Earlier, users had to open the ZIP file and then drag and drop all the files inside it to the file manager. Now, the Extract All feature makes the whole process easier. Chrome OS 102 also allows resizing the zoomed-in portion of the display.

The Cursive note-taking app is now rolling out to all Chromebooks, including Samsung’s. Google says that the PWA (Progressive Web App) will be installed automatically on all Chromebooks that support a stylus. The company plans to release more features to the Cursive app in the coming months.
