Saweetie Appears to Respond After Joe Budden Says ’Shut the F*ck Up”

Saweetie appeared to respond to Joe Budden after the former rapper told her to “shut the fuck up” until she speaks on rumors she slept with Migos rapper Offset.

During a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Budden spoke about Saweetie’s new song “Don’t Say Nothing,” on which she raps about a secret romance without naming any names. “Saweetie gotta shut the fuck up,” Budden said, per XXL. “Come on, let’s just get to it. I don’t got time to play today. Saweetie gotta shut the fuck up. That’s my take. … I’m not listening to Saweetie until she answer the question everybody waiting for her to answer; Did you fuck Offset or not?”

In a tweet, Saweetie seemingly offered her take on what Budden had to say. “Saweetie needs to STFU????? ok joelisha 😍,” she wrote.

Not long after, Saweetie also shared a tweet that’s less direct but could be about Budden’s demands to know whether the gossip about her love life is true. “Is misogynistic behavior normal for HIP HOP culture now?” she wrote. “🤔 guess so 🤷🏽‍♀️.”

Complex has reached out to Saweetie’s representatives for comment.

Rumors have circulated that Saweetie slept with Offset, who is married to Cardi B, for a while now. On Quavo’s track “Messy,” one particular line further fanned the flames. “I said, Caresha Please ’cause she too messy (Woo, please),” he rapped on the song, in an apparent reference to Saweetie on Yung Miami’s Caresha Please podcast and Offset’s nickname, Woo. “Bitch fucked my dawg behind my back, but I ain’t stressin’ (Not at all)/You wanted the gang, you shoulda just said it, we would have blessed it (You shoulda just said it)/Now shit got messy (Uh).”

Recently, Saweetie has been outspoken about some of the misogyny she’s faced as a woman in hip-hop. In a new interview on the Bootleg Kev Podcast, she suggested that women are doing so well in the genre right now because there’s a lack of “empathy and love” among her male counterparts.

“Women is running rap and hip-hop,” she said. “There’s just so much violence and disrespect in the male music. You gotta think, like, remember, what was it, like ’16… ’17, remember when like YG, Tyga, Chris [Brown], Big Sean, TeeFlii was out? It was fun, party music. It wasn’t like, ‘I’ma do this to you, and this, and this,’ you know? I feel like we gotta raise the vibration with the music and get back to having a good time. [I feel like there’s definitely a lack of] empathy and love, for real.”
