SUV Driver Swerves Towards People Over Rs 5 Dispute

Road rage has become increasingly common on Indian roads. Lately, several videos and images have surfaced depicting people being rude to each other, and in some cases, situations have escalated into physical altercations. Here, we have an incident from Delhi where an SUV owner intentionally swerved their car towards people on the road after a dispute over Rs 5. The video capturing the SUV driver attempting to hit the individuals has gone viral on the internet.

The video was shared by Times Now on their Twitter profile. In this footage, a red-colored Mahindra NuvoSport SUV is seen driving from the wrong side of the road. The driver appears to target people standing at the roadside with bricks and sticks. The driver is observed driving dangerously close to the people, attempting to run them down, while individuals retaliate by throwing sticks and stones at the car. It seems the video was recorded by someone present at the scene. The SUV’s rear windshield appears broken, and there are dents on the rear door. Similarly, the front of the SUV also shows minor damages.

According to reports that have surfaced online, the incident occurred in North Delhi, near Signature Bridge. Ram Chand, who owns an eatery near the bridge, filed a complaint with the police. He mentioned that two men arrived at his eatery in a Mahindra NuvoSport SUV and asked for two glasses of water. After serving them, Ram Chand requested Rs 5 for the water, which the occupants refused to pay. An argument ensued between both parties, and the occupants physically assaulted Ram Chand. The situation soon escalated, leading to the events captured in the video, where the NuvoSport driver recklessly drove the car towards the people in an attempt to harm them. It doesn’t look like the driver was able to hit any of the poeple on the road.

An FIR has been filed in this matter, and the authorities are currently searching for the individuals associated with the car. Through the circulating videos, the police have obtained ownership details of the SUV but are yet to make any arrests. The owner of the SUV has been identified as Mohd. Habib.

This incident is not an isolated case in the Delhi NCR region. Several instances have been reported where car drivers have driven SUVs with cops clinging to the bonnet. This typically occurs when the police attempt to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, and the driver tries to evade by not slowing down. Such incidents have reduced in the capital region due to the increased presence of surveillance cameras on most roads, aiding cops in issuing challans.

In this case, the car driver should have ideally paid the amount rather than escalating the situation. Resorting to physical assault over such a trivial matter was unnecessary. It’s crucial to maintain composure while driving and avoid losing temper to prevent such confrontations. Additionally, if faced with such a problem, it’s advisable to inform the police rather than taking the law into one’s own hands.
