Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, the electric vehicle arm of Tata Motors, is currently the largest EV carmaker in India. The company has recently adopted a new brand identity of Tata.ev and has even launched two new EV-specific dealerships in Gurugram, Haryana. The pictures of the Harrier EV and Safari EV have come courtesy of Anvay Sheolikar and Rushlane. From the images shared, it can be noted that the test mules of the Harrier EV and Safari EV were strapped on top of a trailer. It has to be noted that these SUVs were fully camouflaged but were equipped with the pre-facelift bodies. As per the report, these SUVs were on their route for ARAI testing. However, it is not confirmed.

Previous test mule spotting

Back in September of this year, the test mule of the Harrier EV was spotted testing. The interesting part about it was that this particular test mule was seen with the new facelifted front fascia and rear end. Due to its heavy camouflage, no apparent EV-specific design elements were noted. As of yet, only a few mules of the Safari EV have been spotted, with the last one being seen with the facelifted body.

Harrier EV and Safari EV: Powertrain

At the moment, reports have stated that the company will be offering the Harrier and the Safari EV with front-wheel-drive layouts. However, in addition, there will be optional dual-motor variants which will offer AWD systems to both SUVs. Apart from this, it has been reported that the company will be offering both of the SUVs with 60 kWh battery packs, which will offer them a range of more than 500 km.

Additionally, it has also been stated that both the Harrier and Safari EVs will come equipped with features such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities. This means that both EV SUVs will not only be able to charge their own batteries but also provide power to other devices or even charge other electric vehicles.

Harrier and Safari EV pricing and launch

At the moment, the exact launch dates of both SUVs have not been revealed. However, some reports have stated that Tata Motors could be launching them around the end of 2024. Coming to pricing, most likely both of these SUVs will be priced in the range of Rs 30-35 lakhs. Once launched, these SUVs will compete against the Mahindra XUV.e8, BE.05, Hyundai Creta EV, and Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUVs. Sources have reported that both the Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX will be making their official debuts in 2024.
