The Tata Avinya which is based on the Gen 3 ‘Skateboard’ platform from Tata Motors might go into production in 2025. Auto enthusiasts have already dreamt of what the production-spec car could look like and the renderings closely follow the concept. The new Gen 3 platform could play a pivotal role with advancements in space, technology, luxury and powertrain.

The Tata Avinya is expected to liberate interior space equivalent to a 4.6m or 4.7m SUV despite having a footprint of a 4.3m SUV. This would be made possible by the Skateboard platform that would extend the wheelbase of the car. The car is also expected to host a large battery pack to aid performance and range and will soldier on our Indian roads with an expected ground clearance of 200mm.

Tata Motors’ like in the past would endeavour to keep the road-legal production-ready version as close to the concept, like the Tata Punch, Altroz and the Harrier. However, the consumer version might ditch the 22-inch wheels in favour of a more practical 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, which would be better suited to Indian tarmac. Other design elements too might be revised to cater to Indian conditions and audience.

Tata Motors’ Head of Global Design, Martin Ulharik, has highlighted the fact that the design team at the company has been working on the Avinya project for 8 months now and have worked on both the concept and the production version of the vehicle. Enthusiast Pratyush Rout has imagined what the production-spec car could look like via his renders of the car.

The Tata Avinya is expected to deliver a range somewhere around 500km which would enable customers to use the EV practically in the real world. Tata Motors is also working on the Tata Curvv coupe-like SUV which is expected to debut in a production-spec guise sometime in 2024.
