TomTom to provide map services for new Stellantis cockpit platform

In a remarkably brief announcement by automaker/supplier standards, Netherlands based digital map provider TomTom said on Monday it had been awarded a new global contract to provide maps, navigation software, and connected services, such as real-time traffic information, to Stellantis for the automaker’s new STLA SmartCockpit, digital cockpit platform due to arrive in 2024.

“Stellantis platforms will continue to be powered by TomTom’s navigation solutions,” the supplier added.

Last week, TomTom said it would introduce significantly improved maps, built on a new platform.

The new maps were claimed to offer broader geographical coverage, an extended set of supported data types, and faster update cycles.

“The company expects the product to improve its competitive position and enable it to enter new markets,” the mapping specialist said in a statement.
