Two Boulder midcentury moderns top local home sales in January


The priciest home sales in the Denver metro last month included two midcentury modern homes in Boulder, as well as two condos in the same building at the edge of Cherry Creek and Belcaro.

At the No. 1 spot was on the 200 block of Cactus Court in Boulder. DSH Management Trust purchased the property for $6 million from Smith Taro and Amy Lee Ippoliti, records show.

The midcentury modern remodeled by Brad Burch at IndexAD features views of Boulder and the mountains and backs to open space.

The 3,907-square-foot home includes three bedrooms and three baths, a whole-house water filtration system, and an in-house fire suppression system.

The home, constructed in 1971, was entered in the MLS for comp purposes. Jennifer Egbert with Milehighmodern-Boulder represented both the buyer and sellers.

Boulder architect Cheri Belz bought the property for $950,000 in 2008. The city of Boulder granted the home landmark status, while Belz renovated and expanded it to 4,800 square feet. The six-bath home sits on an acre lot in the Upper Chautauqua neighborhood. William and Pesha Wright purchased the red brick home for $2.3 million in 2010. They listed it for $6.4 million in April when they moved to be closer to family.

Leslie Vollbracht, widow of Bill Vollbracht, founder of Land Title Company of Colorado, listed the condo for $3.95 million. The Vollbrachts purchased the three-bedroom, four-bath condo with an 1,800-square-foot terrace for $1.3 million in 1997.
