Vivo is set to launch the X90 series in India on April 26. The Chinese smartphone maker is also rumoured to launch the Vivo X Fold 2 along with the company’s first clamshell design foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Filp in China soon. Now, the company is also reportedly working on an affordable smartphone series. According to a report by GizmoChina, the Vivo S17 series will be launched in China. This smartphone lineup is expected to take on phones from othe companies including — the Honor 90 series and Oppo Reno 10 series.
These smartphones are expected to launch in May and may become available for purchase during China’s 618 shopping festival in June. The Vivo S17 series is rumoured to include three smartphone models — Vivo S17e (V2285A), Vivo S17 (V2283A), and Vivo S17 Pro (V2284A). A Weibo post shared by the a tipster named Digital Chat Station has revealed the key specifications of the Vivo S17 and S17 Pro. Currently, there is no information available about the Vivo S17e model.
Vivo S17, S17 Pro: Expected specs
As per the report, the Vivo S17 and S17 Pro smartphone models are rumoured to sport an OLED display that will be supplied by BOE and is expected to offer a 1.5K resolution. The report doesn’t reveal the screen size but are rumoured to have curved edges.
The report claims that the Vivo S17 will have the Snapdragon SM7325 chipset. This chipset is expected to be either the Snapdragon 778G or the Snapdragon 782G SoC. Meanwhile, the Pro variant is likely to come powered by the Dimensity 8200 chipset.

To compare, the predecessors of these smartphones, the Vivo S16 and S16 Pro models featured the the Snapdragon 870 and Dimensity 8200 chipsets, respectively.
For optics, both Vivo S17 and S17 Pro are likely to house a 50MP Sony IMX766V primary camera, which may support optical image stabilisation (OIS). These smartphones may also sport a 12MP IMX663 telephoto lens. The report doesn’t mention the details about the other camera units that will be available on the smartphone lineup.
