Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus 1.0 now available in Deep Pearl Black editions

On public demand, Volkswagen has now introduced the Deep Black Pearl shade for the 1.0 TSI versions of the Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV. The black paint job, which was previously available only in the 1.5 TSI versions of both cars, is now offered in the top-spec Topline variant of both of them, at an added premium ranging between Rs 19,000-Rs 32,000, depending on the selected variant. Below are the prices of the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus 1.0 TSI with Deep Black Pearl paint shade:

  • Volkswagen Virtus 1.0 TSI MT – Rs 15.22 lakh (Rs 32,000 more than the regular Topline MT)
  • Volkswagen Virtus 1.0 TSI AT – Rs 16.47 lakh (Rs 27,000 more than the regular Topline AT)
  • Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 TSI MT – Rs 16.03 lakh (Rs 19,000 more than the regular Topline MT)
  • Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 TSI AT – Rs 17.60 lakh (Rs 25,000 more than the regular Topline AT)

The Deep Black Pearl paint shade was previously restricted only to the full-spec 1.5 TSI variants of Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus, which recently received a new “Sound Edition” with additional body decals and an enhanced audio system. Even Skoda launched black-coloured editions of the Slavia and Kushaq 1.0 TSI, so it made sense for Volkswagen to introduce the lower-spec 1.0 TSI models of Virtus and Taigun with this more exclusive paint shade.

However, apart from the exterior paint shade, the Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun Deep Black Pearl Edition don’t get any other cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. They continue to be powered by the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 115 PS of maximum power and 178 Nm of maximum torque while being available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.

In terms of features, the new Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun Deep Black Pearl Edition models retain the equipment list of the Topline variant of both cars. On the outside, they come equipped with LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, cornering fog lamps, machined alloy wheels, and a single-pane sunroof. The interior of both models come with features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, auto AC with rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, push start-stop button, and a full-TFT instrument console.

The Volkswagen Virtus Deep Black Pearl Edition will compete with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. On the other hand, the Volkswagen Taigun Deep Black Pearl Edition takes on other midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
