Watch Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton Perform ‘Purple Irises’ on ‘Kimmel’

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to showcase their new collaborative single “Purple Irises.” Performing with a sea of literal purple irises and a brilliant purple backdrop, the duo offered a dynamic rendition of the duet alongside their live band.

The pair released the song, which hears the two duetting about choosing each other after being heartbroken, last week ahead of the Super Bowl. The song, produced by Scott Hendricks, was co-written by Stefani with Svante Halldin, Jakob Hazell, and Latina singer-songwriter Niko Rubio.

Stefani also sat down with host Jimmy Kimmel to discuss the single and working on the song with her real-life husband. The singer also talked about No Doubt’s upcoming reunion at Coachella in April.

“It’s crazy,” she said. “It’s going to be amazing. I’m so excited and I think what is going to be hilarious is I know what’s going to happen. I’m going to get on stage and look around and just start cracking up. It’s just going to be like riding a bike. We’re going to be like, ‘What are we doing? We’re in the future right now.’”

She added that they haven’t start rehearsing yet. “I don’t remember them, no,” Stefani replied when Kimmel asked if she remembers all of No Doubt’s songs. “Not at all. I think I’m going to have to learn like eight or nine.”

Stefani previously reflected on the highly-anticipated reunion, saying, “It just happened so fast, and that’s my favorite kind of thing to happen.” So far the band has not announced a full tour or new music. “We haven’t really figured out the next steps of how we’re going to do this, but we’re just all so excited,” Stefani told People in January.

The singer has teamed up with Shelton several times in the past. The pair, who met on the set of The Voice in 2014, shortly following both of their divorces, collaborated on Christmas song “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” in 2017. The duo also released a duet of The Judds’ “Love Is Alive” last year in tribute to Wynonna Judd.
