Infrastructure Minister Doyle Piwniuk says heavy rain in the western part of the province over the weekend caused fast-moving floods that seriously damaged five bridges.
He says the cost of repairs will be substantial.
Fisaha Unduche, the executive director of hydrologic forecasting for the province, says water levels in most of the rivers and southern basins have peaked.
But he says another significant weather system is forecast to bring heavy rains of 40 to 90 millimetres by Friday.
Unduche says the province will be monitoring water levels and looking at all options, including increasing outflow from the reservoir.
