WhatsApp reportedly testing crop tool for drawing editor on Windows

WhatsApp has been working on several new features across different platforms. The Meta-owned platform has now started testing a new crop tool for the drawing editor option on Windows. The feature allows users to crop photos within the app or while sharing an image via the Windows version of the app, according to WABetaInfo.

The feature is currently available in beta version of the WhatsApp for Windows and is currently available with select beta testers only via Microsoft Store. Also, the feature has been found in WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2321.3.0 as per the report.

As mentioned, the feature allows users to crop images using the app. This eliminates the need of any external app or tool for users. Earlier, users were forced to use any external image editing tool like Microsoft Photos app, or other online cropping tool to edit a photo before sharing on WhatsApp. Now, the feature is built right within the app and users can crop the image in real-time while sharing the images.

It is reminded that the crop tool for the drawing editor is available for select beta testers running WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2321.3.0. If you want to tryout the new crop tool, download and install the update from Microsoft Store. We expect that WhatsApp will expand this feature to more beta users in coming weeks.

Other feature available in the drawing editor on WhatsApp
The drawing editor includes several features including highlighting the text or a particular area. Along with this users also have the option to add annotations before sending the image. At the bottom, there’s a text box that lets users add a caption for the image.
